President’s Message

Greetings,

I am Dr. Emma Turner, President of the San Diego Chapter (Epsilon Xi Omega) of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, which was founded by Ethel Hedgeman (together with eight other co-eds) on January 15, 1908 at Howard University, Washington, DC. The purpose of our group is to create a network for women with like minds coming together for mutual uplift and using their talents and strengths to benefit others.

We are the first Negro Greek-letter sorority. Our sorority has a legacy of sisterhood and timeless service to all mankind. Our graduate chapter was chartered on October 29, 1949. EXO Sorors have remained loyal and committed to serving our community and fulfilling the vision of our 1908 founders. In 2023. Therefore, we continue 115 years of service and sisterhood in our communities. We are soaring as we continue to maintain sisterhood and community involvement in six initiatives: sisterhood; families; wealth, environment, social justice and local community.

Thank you for visiting our website, we are honored by your presence. Please continue to browse our website to find information about community collaborations with local organizations like the following: American Red Cross, American Heart Association, food and clothing drives, Breast Cancer Awareness workshops, and many others. Our local signature program for Epsilon Xi Omega is the Ebony Pearls Youth Leadership Academy, which culminates in a gala, which has been held for 66 years.

Welcome and please come again!

Emma Turner
