Our Newest Pearls
The legacy continues
On April 15, 2018, the Epsilon Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated invited a privileged group of women to attend an Interest Meeting and learn more about the 70-year old Chapter and the illustrious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Two months later, after completing a comprehensive and informative Membership Intake Process (MIP), 14 women were initiated into the beloved Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated sisterhood and EXO.
During a beautiful Sunday afternoon ceremony at the Bayside Hilton, sponsors, co-sponsors, sorors, family members and friends gathered as the self-named “Bayside Pearls,” were warmly welcomed into the sisterhood by Basileus Donna L. Cook. “Becoming an AKA is the realization of a dream,” said one soror. “This is by far one of the happiest days of my life,” stated another adding, “I am excited about serving our community alongside these remarkable women.”
Ready to serve, the newest members of EXO represent multiple generations, professions, and backgrounds. They are retired and active duty military officers, educators, healthcare, pharmaceutical and technology professionals, a real estate expert, and one soror - an ordained minister.
Though the MIP allowed the group of 14 complete strangers to build relational connection, the Bayside Pearls have vowed to strengthen their bonds while also forging life-long relationships with the outstanding ladies of EXO.
