Golden Soror Dorothy L. W. Smith Awarded Prestigious Monty Award

San Diego, CA.  Epsilon Xi Omega Chapter.  On October 8, 2017, Golden Soror Dorothy L. W. Smith, Ed.D., was awarded the prestigious Monty Award by the San Diego State University Alumni Association. Since 1971, this coveted honor has been bestowed on some of the most distinguished and celebrated alumni for their contributions to the university, the community, the nation and the world.   Soror Smith, an active member of Epsilon Xi Omega Chapter, career educator and lifelong advocate of quality education for all students, was honored for her contributions as one of the first African Americans and two-time president of the San Diego Unified School District Board of Education and her work on the City of San Diego Ethics Commission.  Additionally, she was recognized as the co-founder of the Mc Gill School of Success and was the inaugural director of the SDSU’s Aim-to-Teach program.
